Subject area description

Corporate Finance as a discipline addresses firms' financial decision-making, focusing on investment choices, financing strategies, and mechanisms to ensure a market-based return for both owners and lenders. Central to the field is the development of theoretically and empirically grounded frameworks that enable profitable investment and efficient financing, taking into account risk and the cost of capital.

Emphasis is placed on analyzing the factors influencing firms' choices of capital structure and investment strategies-especially in contexts characterized by asymmetric information and transaction costs. The field is distinguished by a strong methodological orientation, where quantitative tools-such as discounting models, real and financial option models, and statistical and econometric methods-are applied to analyze how external market conditions affect corporate financial decisions.
